For Martha, Jeff, and their son Matthew, the ritual of savoring a rich brew in the early hours led to a curiosity about roasting. When they decided to start a roasting company (first called Fat Cow) in their hometown of Lancaster, PA, they sought out growers who were embracing community in their own corners of the world—through farmer education, fair wages, and genuine care for others.
